Our government....

Texas government is obviously Republican dominate. We like our freedom, such as we get to keep our guns, we have our pride and it makes sense why our government is more Republican than Democrat. Texas also gives a lot of power to the lobbyists. Here in Texas there are many lobbyists for different things and they usually make it happen, for example the new bike laws and such. Also, I think we need to do something about our healthcare situation. We have some of the worse percentages of uninsured people here and that is unacceptable. As Texans, we should have enough pride and provide the proper healthcare needed in our state. Overall, I think our government is runned fairly well, I honestly do not think I would last in another state because of the freedom we are given, but I think we can work on our healthcare.

  1. Did you know that 40 percent agree with the health care proposal where 45 percent of Americans do not? Maybe because of the cost, the unpromised benefits, and the reduction of medicare. According from CBS news the health care proposal will actually increase deficits by 1 trillion dollars. So guess what happens to our taxes? UP UP UP. And of course the senior citizens are concerned, as it is medicare does not pay for preventative care. It's sad that a person over 65 can't get a pap smear without paying out of pocket 228 dollars. With the reduction of medicare Democrats state "it's a way to encourage quality of care over quantity". And as far as actually cutting down the costs of health care is undecided. Most likely it will still leave 12 million people uninsured. And as far as the doctors and nurses who barely get money from medicare/medicaid patients as it is will be a nightmare. Hopefully there is a change but not this kind of change.
